New Release: Front 424 – Quite Unusual by Grandmaster O and Jan Kous

Front 242: ‘Quite Unusual’ (2″ RRE, imported from Belgium).

A group that has rarely performed here but still enjoys significant popularity (at least in the discotheques where their “Funkahdafi” is a real floor-filler) is Front 242. The expectations for their new record were therefore high. Unfortunately, “Quite Unusual” on side A doesn’t sound very Front-like. It is less intense and compelling than their previous work. The vocals even sound melodious, and the brass sections give “Quite Unusual” a somewhat unusual character for Front 242.

The flip side, “Agression,” is somewhat more aggressive and follows the old style more closely. However, due to its chaotic nature, it may impress less as a dance track.
