We have received quite a few calls regarding the disc jockey course mentioned in our previous issue. Meanwhile, the organizer, Frans Sman Productions, has issued a press release addressing all inquiries. This press release can be obtained from the organizer by calling 01608-21922. In our current news section (see pages 4 and 5), you will find a report on the release of a 12″ catalog. To celebrate this joyous occasion, we’ve decided to host a little competition.

You might have expected an article on the emerging Gogo-rage in this issue, but we still haven’t decided whether to embrace this musical movement (which actually originated 7 years ago in Washington DC and is related to P-funk): opinions among the editorial team are strongly divided. Ariola will soon release the compilation LP “Gogo Crankin’,” and if it lives up to expectations, we will revisit this topic next month.

Nevertheless, we have our Artist of the Month feature, for which Anthon van der Neut traveled to American in Amsterdam to interview the ladies of Maitai (see pages 14 and 15). This month, the Mixer Profiles series concludes with an extensive story about Ben Liebrand (see pages 16 and 17), and our DJ profile features Alex van Oostrom from the successful Amsterdam nightclub De Bois (and from Alex & The City Crew) this time (see pages 12 and 13). We also visited a company with exciting news in the field of discotheque furnishings: Electric Sound from Weesp with their Dynacord program (see pages 18 and 19).

The fine print of Question and Offer can be found on page 22 this time, and the charts are on pages 24 and 26. The latest music releases in the dance genre are reviewed in Disco Dance Reviews (see pages 6 and 7), Boystown Records (see pages 8 and 9), and Food for Disc Jockeys (see page 10). Fortunately, we had space in this issue to review a few more music videos in HiFi Stereo (see pages 20 and 21) following the article in our February issue. And, of course, there is the comic strip of the cat with its own disco on page 27.
