The Rigter and Van Rooy Plea
Hey Luc! Yeah? Do you think we’d be accepted as reliable sources by people who want to know about Radio 3?
Of course, we know our stuff. And especially about VARA, even though we’re not overtly progressive. But that’s not necessary because we’re heavily commercial on 3, right? Here’s the new VARA policy:
SCORE! Indeed, the issue (sorry) is that the old VARA audience is dropping off, and the new VARA audience hasn’t quite realized they’re the new VARA audience yet.

Let’s not forget the “currants.” Currants??? Are we being vague, Rigter? Okay, let me explain: We’re taking a commercial approach, but we listen to all our tracks. If we come across something that’s not really commercial but still amazing, we’ll include it on the playlist, being as stubborn as we are, to make a great commercial and VARA-worthy day out of it. Ever thought about becoming a baker? No, why? You wouldn’t look out of place in a croissant shop. Too bad you can’t handle waking up early. By the way, did you know a lot of those croissants…things are fraudulent? Really? Yes, those “rolls” are delivered as small white frozen blocks by truck, and a baker just has to put them in the oven. Baguettes are “ejected” by a vague machine, and regular “Dutch” bread comes from a regular Dutch bread factory. Congratulations, at least we know what’s on our plate, but…I sense something here; we’re drifting off topic.
Yeah, but isn’t this the baker-of-the-lowlands-get-stuck-in-the-tram-monthly-magazine? No, Wim, you’ve taken a wrong turn one door too early. What do you mean left? I’m not progressive, we already discussed that. Don’t get worked up and go find those records because we need to “hit the road” for some gigs. With the financial support we get, we can spend it on Spain, where we’ll be enjoying a well-deserved break from our otherwise successful careers in just one week. Next month, more about the sea, sun, beach, discos, and… (insert whatever you wish to encounter in Spain here). Whatever you do, do it carefully, and have a fantastic day.
Best regards,
Luc and Wim
