SWING BEAT = R&B + HIPHOP

The term swing beat is increasingly emerging and refers to music that intertwines R&B and Hip-hop.

Teddy Riley is widely regarded as the inventor of this popular genre, and naturally, his numerous recent productions all fall into this category: Guy, Bobby Brown, Keith Sweat, New Edition, Today, and so on. What many have since forgotten is that Riley was heavily involved in producing significant hip-hop productions in the past, including the classic “New Generation” by The Classical Two and the hits “The Show” by Doug E Fresh and “Go see the doctor” by Kool Moe Dee. Currently, Riley is once again heavily involved in hip-hop, including producing Kool Moe Dee’s new album “Knowledge is King”, Heavey D & The Boys’ new album “Big Tyme”, and the aforementioned album by Redhead Kingpin on Ten Records (Virgin soon).
