PUBLIC ENEMY-HIT!

“Do the Right Thing” is the title of a new film by director Spike Lee, who commissioned Public Enemy to write a song specifically for this film.

That became “Fight the Power,” which resounds 14 times in the movie and is expected to become the summer hit in America. Because the soundtrack is released through Motown, Motown is also allowed to release the Public Enemy track as a single and 12″ (and CD-single). This will happen on June 12, in 3 versions: single mix, extended version, and the Flavor Flav meets Spike Lee remix. It is highly likely that the film will also be released in the Netherlands, but certainly not before June 30, the American release date. The soundtrack also includes songs such as “My Fantasy” by Teddy Riley featuring Guy, “Party Hearthy” by the gogo group EU, and “Can’t Stand It” by Steel Pulse. From Virgin, we received a cassette with the debut album of rapper Redhead Kingpin, produced by Teddy Riley, and the first single from that album is called “Do the Right Thing.” It has nothing to do with each other, but with Teddy Riley as the common denominator, they probably cleverly tapped into the new film.
