Singer Eddy Grant has gained fame in recent years as a producer. At the Bluewave Recording Studios in Barbados, he has been producing fantastic, swinging soca records that unfortunately receive little attention in the Netherlands. Take, for example, “Wait for Me” by Grynner: an irresistible soca rhythm with vibrant brass sections and a melody you can sing along to after just one listen. I’d call it a guaranteed summer hit. But no, say the DJs, we don’t play this kind of music on Dutch radio. Shameful!
