His career began in 1971 when he participated in the First National Disc Jockey Competition in Rosmalen, with Eddie Becker among the judges. As the youngest participant (13 years old), he finished 73rd out of 74 contestants, while the winner was none other than Frits Ritmeester, later known as Frits Spits.
