This is already the second album from Jo-Jo, Candi, Maxi, and Corvette, or four natural forces under the guidance of Rick James. And you can clearly hear his presence in all eight songs. This album sounds more robust than their previous one and includes songs ranging from ballads to very robust street funk. All eight were produced, arranged, and composed by Mr. James himself. For me, the standout tracks are the hit maxi-single “In My House” (118 BPM), a typical James track in the style of “Give It to Me Baby,” the beautiful ballad “Shadow Lover” (78 BPM), the funky “Break Up” (120 BPM), and the absolute banger “Wild and Crazy” (120 BPM), a delightful uptempo funky track fantastically featuring JoJo’s vocals. The break is filled with an insanely long, pulsating bass solo.
